Dr. Richard M. Crowley
Assistant Professor
School of Accountancy
Singapore Management University
Dr. Richard M. Crowley joined Singapore Management University in 2016. His research focuses on qualitative (non-numeric) corporate disclosure and information dissemination on social media and traditional venues. His work involves synthesizing large quantities of non-numeric information using modern machine learning and econometric techniques—ranging from 100,000 annual reports by US corporations, to 100 million tweets by corporations worldwide, to 1 billion posts by individuals on societal issues—to gain insights on how information flows and is used in the economy and society. His work has been published in Journal of Accounting Research. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for many journals and conferences, including Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Review of Accounting Studies, as well as for government grant commissions in Canada, Hong Kong, and Poland. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, biking, and brewing a good cup of coffee.
